Retainers are custom-made appliances worn after braces or aligner treatment to hold your teeth in their new positions. After active treatment ends, teeth can naturally shift back if they’re not stabilized.

Types of retainers include:

  • Removable retainers (clear plastic or acrylic with wires)
  • Fixed (permanent) retainers bonded behind the teeth

Wearing your retainer exactly as directed is critical to preserving your new smile long-term.
